Summary
Ornately decorated Indian festival decoration, in three separate sections. The top section appears to be made of plant stems or rushes, fashioned into a round piece and bowed. They are covered with a spiral design with peach, green, pink and purple, all decorated with silver and gold sequins and gold braid. Suspended at either end is a bell-shaped pompom, and a disc, that also appear at the bottom. Only one pompom present. The discs at either end are present, and the pompom on the left is a silver foil cone covered in vertical strips of pearls, gold tinsel around the middle, and a green foil bose, decorated with gold sequins. At either end of the top section, below the pompom, there is gold ribbon. This would have covered the elongated sections, which are missing. They were joined together with pink tassels and gold. Delicate condition. Overall colours wine and gold, with a multicoloured top.
Provenance
Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
