Newspaper article dated in handwritten pencil at the top '28 MAY 1952' above the article; 'HISTORY OF "THE TIMES" ' TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMES Sir - Mr. Wickham Steed writes that my review of the History of The Times is "a traversty" of the facts recorded there. he quotes my words "When Dawson set out to mobilise opinion against the King (Edward VIII) in the columns of The Times he deliberately suppressed all the letters which were in favour of the King-and at the outset -as is said in The Times book, they were overwhelmingly favourable" The Times book speaks otherwise, claims Mr Wickham Steed. And then he quotes it:-............ Your obedient servant, BEAVERBROOK. Cherkley, Leatherhead, Surrey, May 27.'. The article is kept in the book 'A king's story. . The memoirs of H.R.H. the Duke of Windsor K.G. With frontispiece and 22 pages of gravure illustrations.' by King Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor (1894-1972) (record 3151575).
