Summary
Newspaper cutting of photograph and caption taken from 'TIMES 9 SEPT 1948' as annotated by William Jr over the top of the text beneath. Photograph is of a group of four people in the foreground bent over working in a field which stretches into the distance with trees in the top left and further workers in the top right corner. The caption reads: 'PEPPERMINT HARVEST, - Fourteen acres of peppermint have been harvested at Crockenhill, Kent, where workers are seen cutting the crop by hand and placing the plants in rows for partial drying before being taken to distillery. Peppermint has been grown in this district since 1909. The crop is distilled a few days after being harvested.' Kept in book 3151571.1 'The Herb Garden' by Frances Anne Bardswell.
