Provenance: manuscript inscription on front endpaper: "Adelaide Watt. Speke. Dec. 1916" [i.e. Adelaide Watt (1857-1921)]. Folded letter in stamped and addressed envelope inserted between pp. [iv]-v: "14th Dec. 16. Captain Frank Reynard presents his compliments to Miss Watt, and writes to tell her that he has this day posted to her three copies of his "Hunting notes from Holderness," the price of which is 24/-. He has not sent a copy of the book to her relations, Richard Watt, or Mrs. Eyre". Binding: publisher's gilt-tooled red cloth.
