Binding: Nineteenth-century full maroon cloth over boards, rebound, probably in twentieth-century; original binding preserved when rebound; triple gilt fillets to form a border; spine gilt lettered direct; front cover gilt lettered with embossed gilt initials, initial 'B' green and gilt; all page edges gilt.
Provenance
Given to Miss Emily Stendell in remembrance of Lord Peckover from his three daughters E. Josephine Penrose, Alexandrina Peckover and Anna Jane Peckover, Jan 1st 1920. Later acquired by the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester and loaned to Peckover House in 2007. In 2011 the Gallery donated the book to the National Trust.
