Bound uniform with the author's "History of British butterflies" (5th ed. 1870).. Provenance: Presented to the National Trust by Miss Daphne Meade, 1999, and formerly in the library of Thurland Castle, Lancashire. All volumes have nineteenth century armorial bookplate, signed "CWS", lettered: "Rev. The Honble. Sidney Meade" [1839-1917], and ink stamp: "Frankleigh House Library".. Binding: Nineteenth-century half sheep; blind rolled at leather edges; cloth over boards; five false raised bands; spines gilt tooled; brown spine labels, gilt lettered; marbled endpapers; pages edges gilt at head; binder's ticket: Aubrey Binder Salisbury.
