Inscribed in ms.: "L.E.M. from S.M. February. 1884." Ink stamp: "Frankleigh House Library".. Binding: Nineteenth century full sprinkled calf, blind panelled, edges gilt rolled; five false raised bands; marbled endpapers; all edges gilt.

Presented to the National Trust by Miss Daphne Meade in 1999, and formerly in the library of Sidney Meade (1839-1917), Canon of Salisbury Cathedral, of Thurland Castle, Lancashire.
