**The Inscribed Books Collection, to which this book belongs, consists of gift inscriptions on third party books given to Sir Winston Churchill from friends, family, and well-wishers, unsolicited presentation copies of books by strangers, as well as presentation copies from authors who were genuine friends and colleagues. After his death in January 1965, Churchill personally bequeathed the collection via his Will as a testament to his national and international achievements. The Winston Churchill Collegiate Institution (C.I) in Ontario, Canada opened to its first students on 7 September 1954. It was the first school built after the Second World War as well as being the third high school in Scarborough. The school colours are purple and silver and the mascot is the Winston Churchill Bulldog. Every year the school publishes the 'Winstonian' book which gives all the teams, groups and clubs the opportunity to relive the stories, achievements and the successes of the students. This is the third edition of the annual book, published in 1958.

The book was gifted to Churchill by the students of the Winston Churchill C. I., who were represented by the Vice President and Mentor of the Student Council, L.L. Skewfelt M.A. (Science). Skewfelt inscribed the book with a message, circa 15 August 1958, which reads: "To Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill K.G With the sincerest regards from the students of the Winston Churchill Collegiate, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Per L. L. Skewfelt M.A. Vice President and Mentor of the Student Council" In the Churchill Archives there are a series of correspondences starting from 1953, between the school, the government's Commonwealth Relations Office and Churchill concerning the school's name. The correspondence also discuss WSC providing a signed photo.
