Binding: Red cloth, gold-lettered spine. - Attached to front pastedown: ALs headed '22, Devonshire Place, W.' and dated: 'May 18/26', signed 'Frederick Macmillan', referring firstly to the promise to send a copy 'but ever since / I came back to London it has / been impossible to make use of / the parcel post. Now that things / are more or less normal I hope / that the book will reach you' [following the General Strike]; and, secondly, to the fact that the idea of the edition was conceived between publisher and editor on their way from Bath to Stourhead [and annotated here by Lady Hoare] 'early March: 1924; on a bitterly cold / Sunday afternoon'.
