Old Wimpole shelfmarks: Ee3-4 [brown ink, crossed through in black ink]; S/8 [pencil]; S.1.46 [black ink, partially over bookplate]. Provenance: 17C ownership inscription on flyleaf bisqued out. manuscript on title page: Sam: Hinton. [Cove?]ne: Maij. 7. 1631. Liber Patris sui. Armorial bookplate (between 1733 and 1754): Philip Lord Hardwicke Baron of Hardwicke in ye County of Gloucester [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754]. Binding: Seventeenth-century English sprinkled calf over boards, gilt tooling on spine and board edges, double blind fillet on covers, red-brown spine label with title running from tail to head (i.e. book to be laid flat), red and brown sprinkled edges. Re?-binding has caused cropping of some of the English marginal annotations.
