Summary

Handmade tapestry bookmark with a red border, brown crucifix and multi coloured crown with the word 'No' in red and yellow on a white open weave cotton tapestry back much of which is left exposed. The bookmark is kept in the book 'The red Eric' by Robert Michael Ballantyne (1825-1894) (record 3131561).

Provenance

Straw collection bequeathed to the National Trust on the death in 1990 of William Straw.
