[this is possibly in the hand of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742)]. Manuscript inscription in sixteenth-century[?] hand on second front fly-leaf: "Thomas Norton" [this is possibly Thomas Norton (1532-1584), lawyer, politician and writer]. With manuscript marginal annotations, additions and corrections to the printed text, all in English, and underlining of text throughout, all in the same sixteenth-century[?] hand [Thomas Northon's]. Manuscript note or short verse on rear fly-leaf, dated "1585" and headed "Thesis". Binding: sixteenth-century limp vellum; holes in fore-edge of covers for two pairs of tawed-leather ties (missing, one long bit remains on rear cover); spine cracked; manuscript title (faded) on spine. Strip of vellum lines the spine.
