Provenance: Nineteenth-century inscription on title pages: Constantia Foster [unidentified, but possibly the subject of Henri-Pierre Danloux's painting "Constantia Foster holding her nephew on her lap" (ca. 1800)]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on v. 1 flyleaf in Norris's hand: Sexton 5.9.42.. Binding: Nineteenth-century full diced calf over boards; gilt fillets and roll-tools to form a border; spine gilt, with title 'Memoirs of Grammont'; sewn on five raised bands.
