Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: Barlborough Hall 1938 2/0 H. [i.e. Hodgson's] 7/7 38 Lot 471 [i.e. Barlborough Hall, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire; library formed by Reaston and Rodes families].. Binding: Late eighteenth or early nineteenth-century full calf over boards; brown leather spine label with title: 'Bewick's Quadrupeds'; remains of brown paper label at foot of spine.
