Nineteenth-century newspaper clipping affixed to final pastedown, reporting the auction sale of property belonging to Walter Fawkes, Esq of Farnley Hall. [Walter Ramsden Hawkesworth (1769-1825), adopted the name of Fawkes on inheriting Farnley Hall in 1792; Yorkshire M.P. and industrialist, author of political and historical works, friend and patron of J. M. W. Turner]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Binding: Nineteenth-century full leather over boards, very worn; sewn on four raised bands; cloth repairs to head and foot of spine.
