Inscription on title page: 'To His Excellency Philip Earl of Hardwicke &c ... This [Catalogue] is most respectfully presented by the compiler B.T. Duhigg Jr. Librarian to the said Society'. Old Wimpole shelfmarks: Nn/8 [pencil]; Nn.4.15 [dark blue ink]. Provenance: Armorial bookplate (after 1754): Philip, Earl of Hardwicke. [i.e. Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), created Baron Hardwicke, 1733, and Earl of Hardwicke, 1754. Also used in books acquired by his successors]. Binding: Early nineteenth-century polished sponged calf, large oval pattern of gilt flowers as centre-piece on both boards (with darker staining of leather within); gilt fillet and decorative roll borders. Spine gilt, with label: Library of King's Inns.
