Summary
A series of German[?] engraved plates of Catholic martyrs. The borders are separately engraved, with an oval space into which individual plates of Saints are placed at printing. Four variant borders, each featuring four putti, one in each corner, cartouches on left and right and at the foot, centre: (1) a fruit motif; (2) a floral motif; (3) an urn; (4) a cartouche, with space for lettering, blank. The saints depicted are: St. Bridget (fruit motif); St. Helena (floral motif); St. Sebastian (fruit motif); St. Vitus (floral motif); St. Paul (cartouche); St. Ursula (cartouche); St. Laurence (urn) and St. Isabel (urn).
