(Franks 23486) [Robert Biddulph Phillipps (1798-1864), lawyer and antiquary; he left his library to the monastery at Belmont Abbey, Hereford]. Book label of Phillipps Library, St. Michael's Monastery, Belmont, [Hereford], with their pressmark. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on flyleaf in Norris's hand: Lowe Bros. 18.7.66. 15/=. Also with other notes in his hand relating to sales of Grittleton Library (at Hodgson's, May and Nov. 1944).. Binding: Nineteenth-century full cloth over boards; gilt centrepiece stamp of Wiltshire Topographical Society; blind-panelled; gilt spine title.
