Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: G. H. Last 17/3 '41 10/=. Loosely inserted: sheets of manuscript notes in Norris's hand on Lee and other families associated with Hartwell, and a lease advertisement for Hartwell House, with manuscript date added: 3.4.84.. Binding: Nineteenth-century full cloth over boards; blind-panelled; spine gilt.
