Several leaves cut out, leaving stubs. Loosely inserted: list of items "Taken by J. Papillon Octbr 8th 1830".. Provenance: Not indigenous. Inscribed on flyleaf, in same hand as the manuscript: "Thomas Papillon Esqr. Acrise Place". Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991) Inscribed on flyleaf in Norris's hand: "I have compared the books in this catalogue with the auction catalogue of thelibrary at Crowhurst Park, Battle (sold March 10-12, 1942 q.v.) and conclude that the Acrise library was removed wholly or in part to Crowhurst Park in the 19th century [...] in 1861 when the [Papillon] family moved there.
