[56]p. . plans . 4to.. A bound manuscript catalogue. "A sketch of the Library at Acrise Place": p.[1]. Approximate date from loosely inserted leaf, listing items taken by J. Papillon in 1830. Several leaves cut out, leaving stubs. Loosely inserted: list of items "Taken by J. Papillon Octbr 8th 1830".. Provenance: Not indigenous. Inscribed on flyleaf, in same hand as the manuscript: "Thomas Papillon Esqr. Acrise Place". Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991) Inscribed on flyleaf in Norris's hand: "I have compared the books in this catalogue with the auction catalogue of thelibrary at Crowhurst Park, Battle (sold March 10-12, 1942 q.v.) and conclude that the Acrise library was removed wholly or in part to Crowhurst Park in the 19th century [...] in 1861 when the [Papillon] family moved there. See also article by Arthur Oswald on Acrise Place, Country life (my file) August 8 & 15 1957".. Binding: Nineteenth-century full straight-grained blue morocco; blind-panelled; gilt title "Catalogue" on upper board and spine.
