Provenance: Twentieth-century inscription on v.1 flyleaf: "Arthur [?] 5 vols." Twentieth-century crest bookplate: Norman E. S. Norris, Patcham [i.e. Norman Norris (1917-1991)]. Twentieth-century book label of the Wayside Library, with its press-mark [i.e. Norris's library]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on v.1 flyleaf in Norris's hand: Bailey Bros. Newington Butts. Also with his note: "Lacks plate of Loseley drawing room at p.420", and a price note in different hand: 5v. 30/.. Binding: Nineteenth-century half blue calf binding; marbled boards; spine gilt; red leather spine labels; sewn on four raised bands; paper edges marbled.
