Fletcher [i.e. William Holland Ballett Fletcher (1852-1941), of Aldwick Manor, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, now restored to its earlier name of Hotham Park]. ALS from book dealer H.[?] J.[?] Smith to Fletcher, dated 1901, affixed to v.1 flyleaf. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on v.1 flyleaf in Norris's hand: Aldwick Manor 18 Aug '41 Lot 259 Đ2.. Binding: Nineteenth-century full sheep bindings; blind fillets; gilt spines with labels "History of Lewes". Vol. 3 rebound (in early twentieth century?) to match other vols., but in reddish leather.
