Provenance: Nineteenth-century inscriptions on front pastedown: 1. Miss Gower, 2 Queens Square, Bloomsbury. 2. J.P. Elwes, Stoke College [i.e. John Payne Elwes (1798-1849)]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Inscribed on pastedown in Norris's hand: H. [i.e. Hodgson's] 27/2 48 Lot 428 5/-.. Binding: Nineteenth-century half sheep; paper boards; leather mostly worn away.
