Provenance: Coloured illustrated label of the author, no.'59'. - Loosely enclosed: Typed transcript of the author's text; typed letter dated 'June 12, 1947' addressed to 'Mr. Pratley, Bookseller, near King Charles the Martyr Church, Tunbridge Wells', discussing the nature of Gilpin's manuscripts, not signed. - A sheet of notes in ink 'Catalogue of Sketches of William Gilpin, 1802'. Binding: Eighteenth-century half blue calf, marbled-paper boards, ink-lettered title-label: ...'Vol: I', gold-ruled spine, uniform with a second volume of sketches, auction house ticket on upper board 'Lot 96'.
