Provenance: Publisher's blue paper wraper [?] bound in amongst initial blanks, with dedication inscription: 'To the Lady Londonderry / with the writer's devotion / Dublin 23.1.1930'; the author's twentieth century armorial bookplate to front pastedown; twentieth-century armorial bookplate (dated 1922) set in a landscape with De Lazlo's portrait of Edith Lady Londonderry in the uniform of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in a medallion above, lettered at the bottom of the plate "Edith Helen Marchioness of Londonderry. D.B.E." . Motto in Scottish Gaelic over portrait ("Tha mo cridhe's an tir nam beann" [My heart is in the land of mountains]) [i.e. Edith Helen Chaplin, m. in 1899 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915]; the author's book plate to front pastedown, and bookseller's label to foot of rear pastedown: 'W. Erskine Mayne / 3 Donegall Sq. W. Belfast; Binding: twentieth century full polished marbled calf, spine gilt in compartments sewn onto five raised bands, contrasting lettering pieces, boards with single gilt fillet to form a border, upper cover direct lettered gilt, with gilt armorial stamp displaying Vane-Tempest-Stewart marshalled with Chaplin under a marquess coronet with charges and motto (Metuenda corolla draconis).
