Provenance: Inscribed in ink on front free-endpaper: 'Apsley G.B. Cherry-Garard / June 15th 1910', and: 'Used by the British Antarctic Expedition / 1910-1913 / Cape Evans / McMurdo Sound'. Binding: Publisher's soft red cloth, gold device, gold-decorated spine, gold-lettered. Loosely inserted an ink ALs dated: 'Dec. 22. 1913 / 'Lamer Park, / Wheathampstead / Herts' addressed to 'Mr Kipling' and signed by Cherry-Garrard presenting the copy to Kipling following its reading by members of the Expedition.
