Provenance: Nineteenth-century seal armorial bookplate (stamped in gold on white leather) [not in Franks]: 'Edward Hailstone' [probably Edward Hailstone (1818-1890), whose library was sold by Sotheby's in 1891 (except his books on Yorkshire which he had bequeathed to the Library of York Minster)]. Gilt stamped crest of the Clan Lindsay at foot of spine. Twentieth-century armorial bookplate (small variant), signed Badeley 1930: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Lord Fairhaven’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Nineteenth-century half green morocco, marbled paper over boards; sewn onto three recessed cords; five false bands; gilt fillets on spine; spine lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'History of Bottisham. &c', 'E.H. Jun.' and '1873'; gilt stamped crest of the Clan Lindsay at foot of spine; gilt top edge; marbled endpapers.
