Ephemera: loosely inserted bookdealer's typescript description of this item (price cut out) with pencil cross above date of 1820 and pencil note "watermark 1829". Provenance: Manuscript inscription on front free endpaper verso: "Lieut Colonel Alexander Taylor with the Birds in the Book all drawn by his affectionate Aunt. Mary Ann Wallis. Prestbury nr Cheltenham 3rd January 1866.". Binding: Nineteenth-century half calf, marbled paper over boards; sewn onto five recessed cords; four false bands; blind tooled spine; green morocco spine label, gilt lettered: 'British and foreign birds.'; marbled textblock edges and endpapers.
