Provenance: Pencil inscription on front free endpaper: "John Constable given to me by Mr Moxon. in Dover Street - while with Mr Wordsworth. Tuesday. June 21, 1836". Loosely inserted letter notes that this copy was bought in 1936 in Leicester and was "Presented by A.F. Richardson R.A to Lord Fairhaven as a token of his esteem. The year of Victory. 1945.". Twentieth-century pictorial crest bookplate: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Lord Fairhaven’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Nineteenth-century full grey paper boards; printed paper title label on spine. In green morocco box, gilt lettered.
