Binding: Nineteenth-century full armorial straight-grained blue morocco over boards; gilt fillets and roll-tools to form a border; gilt spine, edges and inner border; gilt armorial centrepiece stamp with motto ‘At spes non fracta’. [Pencil note on flyleaf of Gandy's "Designs for cottages, cottage farms, and other rural buildings" (1805) identifies this as “motto of Thomas Hope” to whom that work is dedicated - p. [i]].
