Plates affixed to blank leaves and rebound interleaved with leaves of cut-out frames. Title page and frontispiece pasted to individual leaves without associated cut-out frames. Bookseller's pencil note on front pastedwn: "A set of fine impressions with a unique state of the Rear Admiral - as frontispiece - standing on the shore. In the published plate, the Admiral is on deck.". Ephemera: typescript catalogue card. Provenance: Twentieth-century armorial bookplate, signed G.S. 24 [1924]: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Broughton’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Twentieth-century half blue morocco, blue cloth over boards; sewn onto six recessed cords; spine lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Costume of the British Navy / M. Gauci'; gilt textblock edges. Binder's gilt stamp on front turn-in: 'Robson & Co. Ltd. 7, Hanover Street, W.1.'.
