Sixteenth- or seventeenth-century [?] manuscript notes in pencil and brown ink on front pastedown and final free endpaper, mostly illegible. Twentieth-century crest bookplate: E. C. Stanley Norris, Patcham [(d.1960), father of Norman Norris]. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Norman Norris (1917-1991). Binding: Sixteenth-century full calf over wooden boards; blind fillets and tools to form a border and central panel; tools include human faces and phoenix (?) motifs. Remains of metal clasps. Sewn on four raised bands. Repairs to inside of both hinges; front free endpaper wanting, but both original pastedowns preserved.
