Provenance: Inscribed on upper pastedown: "Horace Cust from Eliz[abe]th & Charlotte July 18th 1840" [children of Lt. Col. Peregrine Francis Cust and cousins of Victoria Mary Louisa Cust (1823-95), daughter of Sir Edward Cust and Mary Anne Boode, m. Simon Yorke III of Erddig in 1846]. Binding: Nineteenth-century publisher's blind and gilt embossed full blue cloth, edges sprinkled red.
