I: 'These volumes formerly belonged to Lord Charles James Fox Russell - born Feb. 10. 1807 - died June 29 1894. He was named after Mr. Fox, who had promised to be Godfather to the Duke of Bedford's next child, but did not live long enough to fulfil his promise. Given to G.O. Trevelyan by G.W.E. Russell. 1898.' Twentieth-century pictorial armorial bookplate, a re-working of an earlier William Bell Scott pictorial Trevelyan bookplate (Franks 29799) of Sir Walter Calverley Trevelyan (1797-1879), lettered: Charles & Mary Trevelyan [i.e. Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan (1870-1958), & Mary Katharine, (m.1904).] Arms: Trevelyan impaling Bell. Not in Franks.. Binding: Nineteenth-century full leather binding, rebacked; gilt tooled on spine; gilt on board edges.
