Binding: Twentieth-century Cosway-style binding: full red morocco; gilt fillets and rolls to form an outer border on boards; centrepiece on upper board: gilt stamped monogram 'PBS' on circle of inlaid blue morocco within circular frame of gilt fillets; centrepiece on lower board: gilt stamped pansy on circle of inlaid purple morocco within circular frame of gilt fillets, lettered: 'Pansies let my flowers be'; cornerpieces on boards of gilt tooled pansies with inlaid purple morocco; sewn onto five raised bands; spine gilt, lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Shelley's poetical works' and 'Vol. I'; double gilt fillet on board edges; gilt gauffered textblock edges; green morocco pastedowns; miniature of Percy Bysshe Shelley under glass on front pastedown in gilt metal frame with gilt rolled border and wreath with six gilt tooled flowers with inlaid red morocco and pearls; pattern of gilt tooled leaves and flowers with inlaid white morocco on front pastedown; cornerpieces of gilt tooled leaves and flowers with inlaid white morocco on rear pastedown; pattern of gilt stamped flowers and tufts of grass on rear pastedown; ivory watered silk free endleaves.
