Binding: Twentieth-century Cosway-style binding: full red morocco; miniature of Queen Elizabeth I as a young woman on upper board with single gilt fillet and gilt tooled wreath of leaves and flowers to form a frame; gilt fillets to form an outer border on boards with gilt tooled corner pieces: sprays of leaves and flowers; five raised bands; gilt tooled spine (leaves and flowers); spine lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Courtships of Queen Elizabeth' and 'Hume'; gilt rolled board edges; gilt rolled turn-ins with elaborate gilt tooled cornerpieces; gilt textblock edges; marbled endpapers; two red ribbon markers.
