Binding: Nineteenth-century full dark blue morocco; double gilt fillet to form an outer border; gilt outer roll and blind rolls to form a panel design with a blind stamped centrepiece; sewn onto four recessed cords; five false bands; spine gilt, lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Remarkable characters' and 'Caulfield / 1. 2. 3.'; gilt rolled board edge corners and turn-ins; gilt textblock edges; green endpapers.
