Binding: Late nineteenth- / early twentieth-century full brown Morocco; triple gilt fillet to form an outer border on boards; onlaid centrepiece panel on upper board in single gilt fillet frame: multicolour morocco picture of coach and horses (reproduction of title page vignette); sewn onto five raised bands; spine lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Coaching days and coaching ways / W. Outram Tristram' and 'Illustrated by Herbert Railton and Hugh Thomson'; remaining spine compartments gilt stamped with (1) horseshoe with riding whip and (2) horse's head; gilt rolled board edges and turn-ins; gilt top edge; marbled endpapers. Binder's gilt stamp on front turn-in: 'Bound by Birdsall. Northampton & London'. Original green cloth covers retained (bound in at end).
