Twentieth-century armorial bookplate (large variant), signed Badeley 1930: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Lord Fairhaven’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Late nineteenth-century full maroon morocco; single gilt fillet to form an outer border; inlaid centrepiece of coat of arms of Queen Elizabeth I in garter with red and blue morocco and gilt tooling; gilt stamped cornerpieces: roses; spine lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Queen Elizabeth / Creighton'; gilt stamped roses in spine compartments; gilt stamped lion (crest of Edward Penton) in final spine compartment; double gilt fillet on board edges; elaborate gilt rolled turn-ins; gilt top edge; green watered silk endleaves. Binder's gilt stamp on front turn-in: 'Bound by Zaehnsdorf 1896.'. Binder's device gilt stamped on rear pastedown.
