[100] leaves of plates :. ill. ;. 36 x 25 cm. Probably issued as a bound volume: includes contents leaf, but without a title page and the memorial portrait of Yoshitoshi. Provenance: gift from Madame Kato to Roger and Jane [i.e. Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896-1976) and his sister Lady Jane Grey (1899-1991), later Turnbull. Madame Kato is possibly Iwasaki Haruji, wife of the politician Katō Takaaki (1860-1926), who was ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1894-1899 and 1908-1913]. Some markings on endpapers and boards. Binding: accordion-style binding, blue-grey-silver textile embossed with a gilt floral pattern; endpapers gilt-sprinkled. Traces on upper board of former title label.
