Long manuscript inscription in Italian on verso of front fly-leaf, from one Angelo M. Bossatti to the Venetian poet, bibliophile and art collector Giovanni Battista (Giambattista) Recanati (1687-1735), regarding the painting The Martyrdom of Saint George by Paolo Veronese in the church of San Giorgio in Braida, Verona, and a copy of it made by the Verona painter Michelangelo Prunati (1690-1756): "Angelo M. Bossatti al Sig. Gio. Batta Recanati nobile Veneziano a S: Mose / Al sudto. [...] staeto adrizzata la Capettae [...] la copie del quadro che […]presenta il martirio di S: Giorgio colocato al Altar maggiore di Ma Chiesa in Verona [one word crossed-out] copiata de Paolo Veronese e la da copia L. ha. fatta[?] Michel Angelo Prunato Pictor Veronese". Presumably Giovanni Battista Recanati (1687-1735) is the former owner of this book. Seventeenth-century[?] manuscript initials at foot of title page: "C.T.B."[?]. Binding: sixteenth-century[?] limp parchment (staining); sewn on two supports; manuscript title and date on spine.
