Structure: English Edges: plain-cut, finely sprinkled with red pigment, polished Spine Lining: Thick paper artificial hollow back folded 2 off and 1 on, open along the right side End Bands: Stuck-on green bookcloth folded over a thin core. Bookmark: None Boards: 3mm rope-fibre board, no back-cornering Covering: Half tanned black pebble-grain sheep/goat with fine combed marbled paper on the sides. Tooling Spine: Divided into 5 panels by gold-tooled single line tool (doubled at head and tail), titled direct in gold in panels 2 and 4. Tooling Sides: Furniture: None Enclosure: None Binding Notes: Bound by a member of the Browne family of Townend in the late 19th century and the details of the bindings, which are somewhat eccentric, must not be changed.
