Orientation: Vertical Text Substrate: pale blue wove paper Ink/Pigment: Account book ruling and fountain pen ink with red underlining Type: BOUND BOOK Binding Type: Case binding, bds & cover Date of Binding: late 19th century Binder's Name: British End Leaves: sewn double fold of pale blue wove paper, the outermost leaf pasted to the board over the head and tail turn-ins, but under the fore-edge bookcloth turn-ins, tipped fold of marbled paper in centre of gathering, outer leaf as pastedown Structure: British Edges: plain cut, marbled and polished Spine Lining: transverse lining of purple tanned leather at head and tail, short continuous lining of printed paper in centre. End Bands: None Bookmark: None Boards: 2mm rope-fibre couched laminate boards Covering: Half red-brown tanned sheepskin with plated straight grain, with morocco-grain blue bookcloth on the sides Tooling Spine: divided into to 4 panels by gold-tooled 1-line tool. Tooling Sides: blind-tooled roll along edges of leather on spine and corners Furniture:None Enclosure: None Binding Notes: A small tear at the tail end of the right joint of the spine leather has been patched with paper which goes onto the outside of the board. This indicates that the binding has been repaired at some earlier date.
