[152] leaves ; 8vo. Running number: 675. Provenance: sixteenth-century manuscript inscription in light brown ink at foot of title page and at end of printed text on leaf 16r: "E: Scsūt"[?]. Eighteenth-century manuscript inscription on front fly-leaf verso (facing title page): "apud Auctione Bucklerana[?] 1701/2 pret. 1[?]m1/7 J Bridges" [i.e. where and when he bought the book, plus price code, written by John Bridges (1666-1724), antiquarian and lawyer. Bridges' library was sold in London, 7 Feb. 1725/26]. Lot 1764 in Bridges sale catalogue 'Bibliothecae Bridgesianae catalogus' (London, 1725 [i.e. 1726]). Library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Ellys bought a number of books at the Bridges library sale in 1726. Eighteenth-century manuscript code at head of front free endpaper: "S" (found in a number of Ellys's books but so far unknown as to what it means). Binding: sixteenth-century blind-tooled black goatskin over pasteboards; sewn on four sewing supports; double fillet border with floral tool in the corners, floral lozenge-shaped tool stamped at inner corners of border and at end of raised bands along spine-edge, large strapwork and foliate centrepiece stamp; remains of two pairs of green textile ties; spine in five compartments, the second with brown leather title label 'CATULL TIBULL PROPER-TIUS' in gilt, the third with 'ALDUS 1502' lettered in gilt, the others plain; four raised bands; red stained bookblock edges.
