Ephemera: loosely inserted plate entitled "A general attack on the subject" from Clark's "Out of the hurly-burly" (Philadelphia, 1874), showing women studying medicine standing around the body of an unconscious man on a couch. Provenance: Twentieth-century armorial bookplate, signed G.S. 24 [1924]: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Broughton’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Bookseller's ticket on front free endpaper verso in v. 1 and v. 3: 'Grant & Bolton Booksellers, 4, Dame Street, Dublin.'. Binding: Nineteenth-century Russia calf, gilt and blind fillets to form a panel design on boards; sewn onto five recessed cords; four false bands; spines lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Tableaux historiques de la Révolution Française Tome I[-III].'; single gilt fillet on board edges; double gilt fillet (thick and thin) on turn-ins; gilt textblock edges; marbled endpapers; deep pink ribbon marker in each vol.
