Binding: Twentieth-century full blue morocco; double gilt fillet to form an outer border on boards; gilt stamped centrepiece on upper board: shield of Lindsay family held by an eagle within eight-pointed star and circle; gilt tooled title on upper board and spine; sewn onto five recessed cords; four raised bands; gilt stamped device on spine (with motto 'Astra castra numen lumen'); single gilt fillet on board edges; double gilt fillet on turn-ins; gilt textblock edges. Binder's gilt stamp on front turn-in: Bound by Riviere & Son'.
