Summary
One of four lace curtains in excellent condition except where cotton backing used on curtain heading and a few holes in the fine cotton lawn with few rust marks on edges. No hooks or curtain tape. Urn and cartouche motifs are made in what looks like carrickmacross work, where motifs are filled in with muslin and chain-stitched by machine. These appliquéd motifs are stitched onto fine tulle to form patterns on either side of a three-sided scalloped edge. Ground colour is ivory.
Provenance
Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
