There is now a brown wrapping-paper loose jacket over the whole book. There is a presentation letter with a black wax seal from the author to A. Peckover attached to the front flyleaf with a wafer, and a compliments slips from the printer/publisher attached to the inside of the front board also with a wafer. The Front flyleaf bears the inscription: J. Peckover / to / E Peckover 1827. Bookplate of Algerina Peckover of Sibalds Home inside front board.

xxvi,700p., frontis., plates . ill.., maps . 8vo.. Possibly from the Wisbech Society collection? A leaf (19x11cm) is attached to the front pastedown, with manuscript inscription: "With H. L.'s best respects - Tuesday [Ms.?]". A manuscript note has been added in a different and later hand: "Kilner master before Clarkson born 42 [illegible] B". A printed note of prices is tipped in to the front flyleaf. The printed errata leaf is attached to the back pastedown. Ms number: "#47" on half-title, relating to Peckover condition survey card index.. Provenance: A presentation copy from the author to Jonathan Peckover (1754-1833). A holograph letter from the author to Jonathan Peckover, dated 27th December 1827, acknowledging his assistance with the work, is tipped in at the front. Nineteenth-century bookplate lettered: "Algerina Peckover" and in a central roundel "Sibald's Holme". manuscript inscription "J. Peckover to E. Peckover 1827" (possibly Jonathan to his daughter Elizabeth (1795-1871)) on front flyleaf, and below it in ms pencil: "Aa. P.", interpreted in the conditon survey notes as "AlexR P.". Binding: Disbound or never bound? Plain board front and back, spine lacking, stitching broken, deckle edges. Covered in brown paper, with remains of previous brown paper cover on the back board.
