A scrapbook of newspaper cuttings from the late 18th century to 1899. A variety of topics: Royal and significant births, deaths and marriages; significant events; literature and poetry; technological innovations; anecdotes and bon mots. Only the first 31 leaves of the scrapbook have been used.

Old manuscript shelfmark on front flyleaf: O.4 [possible an Enville shelfmark?] Presumably begun by the 5th or 6th earls of Stamford and continued occasionally by descendents up to the 9th earl in 1899? [The last entry is a baptism notice for Lady Jane Grey (1899-1991)].. Provenance: Bookplate on front pastedown: Armorial, Grey and Booth quarterings, surmounted by a baron's coronet [i.e.: George Harry Grey, 6th earl of Stamford (1765-1845), prior to assumption of earldom in 1819]. [This example of the plate is signed: Barnes & Co. Coventry Strt.]. Binding: half calf, marbled paper; spine single gilt ruled.
