Manuscript inscription on verso of first front fly-leaf: "Lucy Roberts her booke which was giuen mee by my most deare and louing husbande and was his good Mothers 163[0 or 1] the 6 daye of maye [signed] J Roberts Lucy Roberts" [i.e. Lady Lucy Robartes (1615/17-ca. 1646/47), wife of John Robartes, 2nd Baron Robartes of Truro]. Manuscript notes (spiritual meditations) on second and third front fly-leaves in hand of John Robartes (1606-1685), 2nd Baron Robartes of Truro, signed and dated at end: "The 12 May 1632 ... John Robartes". Manuscript "A meditation occasionally composed by walking on the top of a hous" signed and dated "28 Decembris 1634 Roberts", and "A meditation uppon the Lords day", both in the hand of John Robartes, on rear fly-leaves. Manuscript inscription (in child's hand) on verso of third rear fly-leaf: "Charles Robartes Right honorble John Lord Robartes his sonne" [i.e. one Charles Robartes, son of John Robartes, 2nd Baron Robartes of Truro]. Manuscript note about the edition by W. H. Allnutt, on new front fly-leaf. Binding: seventeenth-century[?] calf, sewn on 5 supports; triple fillet framework border; single blind fillet on board edges. Rebacked in calf. Gilt title and place/date on spine.
